Recently, a customer called for the cleaning of an area rug in her home. It is important when cleaning oriental rugs to use the proper methods according to the rug's materials. It is especially important for many of today's imported rugs, as color fastness can become a real issue.
We picked up the oriental rug at the home and brought it to our workshop, where we determined it was a machine manufactured rug. Next, we removed as much dust and dirt as possible using vacuums designed for industrial use.
Next, we performed the most important test of color fastness. We will not clean your rug until we have completed a color fastness test to assure the colors will not bleed with the recommended cleaning method.
This rug had some heavy soil along the areas that were directly in front of the couch, so we pre-treated those areas with a commercial cleaning pre-spotter. Since this customer had a dog, we also neutralized and eliminated the pet odor and paid special attention to a small
pet stain.
After pre-spotting the rug, we cleaned it thoroughly and laid it flat to dry. This is a very important step, as well. Hanging heavy rugs can cause irregular pulling and uneven stretching.
The rug was delivered in 'like-new" condition to our customer as we re-installed it in her family room.
